The 1:1 Phenomenon – Why you should be mixing your THC with CBD
By Jason Tillotson, Copywriter
So you like using CBD, but you also like THC.
If you hadn’t noticed, you’re not the only human on the planet who enjoys both the intoxicating effects of THC, and the calming effects of CBD, wrapped into one experience.
In fact, over 50% of the medical cannabis market agrees with you. Over half of medical cannabis consumers prefer their medicine to be of the 1:1 CBD:THC variety. Another cohort of medical cannabis users enjoy products with twice as much CBD content to total THC content. As a result, we’re seeing local cannabis growers breed specific strains crafted to meet patient needs.
Take District Growers for example, a local DC-based medical cannabis grower who we’re seeing grow strains like Citrus Tango CBD, a hybrid strain with equal parts THC to CBD. Center City Cultivation has a Kryptonite that tests with CBD levels at 11.6% and THC levels at 4.2%.
So it’s clear patients are benefitting from adding CBD in with their THC experience, but why?
Why does CBD pair so well with THC, and should you be mixing them?
Some say CBD actually counteracts the effects of THC. While that’s partially true, the two cannabinoids are more likely to produce an entirely unique feeling, rather than just dial down THC’s effects. The term “entourage effect” is often used”, we actually wrote a blog piece on the entourage effect not long ago. In short, the entourage effect is the body and mind experiencing a full spectrum of cannabinoids, all doing their respective jobs at once.
Herb magazine sums it up well, “the entourage effect arises from the synergistic interactions of a wide variety of cannabinoids and terpenes found in cannabis and how these effects add together to produce the phenomenon.”
The difference between CBD and THC in respect to your brain and endocannabinoid system is considered to stem from the way the two cannabinoids bind to your endocannabinoid receptors. But the brain benefits aren’t the only reason you should be mixing a little hemp flower into your THC bowls…
CBD can help you conserve your expensive THC flower.
Yeah. That $60 1/8th of designer kush you just bought can go twice, if not three times, longer if you sprinkle in some CBD into your grinder when rollin’ up.
Cheaper and much healthier than tobacco, adding CBD to your next THC joint is a no-brainer.
