Can I travel with CBD?

Below we’ve laid out five reasons not to leave home without your hemp-derived products and common questions around it’s legality.

1. Yes. It’s Legal

If you’re traveling domestically (In the US), you don’t have to worry that you’ll be breaking any laws by bringing hemp-derived products with you. The Federal 2018 Farm Bill (the Agricultural Act of 2018) legalized the production and sale of hemp (& its derivatives) with 0.3% percent or less THC. All hemp-derived products Flowerz produces meets this requirement, and our full-spectrum, whole-flower hemp-derived products are 100% federally legal.

That said, marijuana-derived CBD products (those with over 0.3% THC) are illegal under federal law and under state law — except in states where medical and/or recreational cannabis is legal.

2. It can help with the stress and anxiety of traveling (better than alcohol)

Chronic stress is a staple of most of our lives, and because it affects us both mentally, physically, and emotionally, it can impede the ability to be fully present while attempting to enjoy a break from your usual routine. And frequent, if not constant, low-level, anxiety has become a familiar feeling we are all living with in the past year.

Thankfully, activating the endocannabinoid system (ECS) with cannabinoids can bolster how you cope with both stress and anxiety. As Project CBD explains, “The endocannabinoid system plays a crucial role in regulating a broad range of physiological processes that affect our everyday experience — our mood, our energy level, our intestinal fortitude, immune activity, blood pressure, bone density, glucose metabolism, how we experience pain, stress, hunger, and more.”

When you’re faced with situational stress on the road, in the air, or by boat — be that hitting bad traffic, dealing with a middle seat, or contending with unruly kids — CBD can help to directly combat the secretion of the stress hormone cortisol, according to research. In turn, reducing the amount circulating in the blood.

Plus, cannabinoids (CBD) will support storing the body’s own natural endocannabinoid anandamide, which can be compromised by stress. Nicknamed the “bliss” molecule, anandamide is produced when you work up a satisfying sweat at the gym or eat chocolate.

3. You can get better quality sleep

Being off-routine and in a different place is often a recipe for missing out on quality Zzz’s. But full-spectrum CBD can serve as a powerful sleep aid. In 2019, participants in a comprehensive research study by Project CBD found that:

  • CBD helped them get to sleep more quickly. Reducing the average time from about an hour to 20 minutes.
  • They also reported waking up much less often: 1.4 times per night versus 4.3 or about a third as many times.
  • Without CBD, almost three-quarters of participants reported waking up tired; with CBD, 9% reported waking up tired.

4. It can offer a natural energy boost

If the idea of long travel times has slowed your get-up-and-go or you’re feeling burned out from all the prep leading up to your trip, reaching for a targeted CBD product can help you feel revitalized. Consider Flowerz Fruit Thins, featuring a proprietary blend of cannabinoids that targets a multitude of symptoms. Each multi-purpose piece offers 25mg of full-spectrum, premium cannabinoids to relieve pressure points, regulate mood, and ease discomfort. If you’re looking to reset and get a boost of energy, reach for the Fruit Thins which feature Passion Fruit, Kiwi Strawberry, and Mango flavors perfect for your summer “trip”.

5. It can soothe aches and pains

As much as we can dream that setting up an auto-reply on your work email would automatically lead to all that tension being released from your tired muscles, it just doesn’t work that way. But packing some CBD products can help you loosen up. Great for aches, pains, and cramps, Flowerz fast-acting products pack a punch and are formulated with organically grown, activated full-spectrum hemp flower extracted with the cleanest of methods – quality in, quality out.

The bottom line

Though even the briefest trip can be an opportunity to take a time-out from the usual stressors of daily life, it never hurts to have your go-to self-care products to ensure that you’re feeling your best while away from home. Given the bevy of benefits it offers, there’s no doubt that bringing your favorite CBD products — be that your Calming Caramels or Full-Spectrum Fruit Thins — is a must.
